This is a painting of the artist’s pet bird, named Djaluc; it was inspired by love and joy. It represents the essence of a seemingly uncomplicated species while capturing Djaluc’s charming personality. Georgina used vivid colours to capture a real image and demonstrates her fascination about the way light reflects colour from Djaluc’s feathers. Bright, joyful, warm colours in conjunction with textured brush strokes emphasis the joy the little bird brings to those around him and the pleasure he derives from mundane tasks such as bathing and seeing people he loves.
